Number 32 is a single storey contemporary house with a flat roof design that helps to emphasise the sleek and contemporary look of the house whilst ensuring that it nestles into its rural surroundings.

32 Shepherd Road is the last of 3 homes on this elongated site on the edge of Barrington Village. The site is in an SSSI designated area - a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The “Barrington Hippo” skeleton was found not far from the home and, as such, special care had to be taken not to disturb certain areas of the site.

The house is located atop of what was a mound of spoil from the Coprolite mine. Immediately adjacent to this was the pit which now forms what will become a natural swimming pool. Here, we used the artificially created landscape to inform the design and layout with the house being at the high point, the garden and lawn a level down and the pit forming a natural pond - a perfect excuse to create a natural swimming pools without having to import any blue clay as it is found within the pit itself.
